Term it an irony of sorts or a quirk of fate; fact is that international pornstar Sunny Leone’s much-anticipated sex-romp Jism 2 will clash with a cute 3D animation film called Krishna Aur Kans this week.

While the all-pervading Lord Krishna will fight the devilish mythological villain Kans in the latter, the movie which happens to be India’s first stereoscopic animated feature film, will also have to battle the stiff competition at the box-office from a sex-crazed audience, wishing to check out the debut of the famed adult sensation Sunny.

But ace Bharata Natyam dancer Prachi Saathi who has dubbed the dialogues for the adorable little Lord Krishna in the movie isn’t really scared of this clash. “A seductive Sunny may be mesmerizing, but our natkhat Kishan Kanhaiya will always have his own charm and appeal,” the girl smiles and quips with oodles of confidence.

Not much bothered about the clash, she adds, “While Jism 2 is an out-and-out adult film, there is a huge possibility that family audiences would come in with their kids and elders to see how Krishna Aur Kans unfolds in 3D.” Prachi has a point and knows what she’s talking! After all, she is no novice to the entertainment industry!

Having acted as a child artiste in Subhash Ghai’s Pardes as well as a popular television sitcom Daddy Samjha Karo, she has modeled for over fifty brands and been a voice-over artiste for over 80 TV shows and 60 Hollywood and Bollywood movies.

For her sake and the sake of clean inspiring content, we hope against hope that Prachi’s conviction is blessed by the Gods!

Having modeled for many successful brands and campaigns, spunk-chick Bidita Bag, who is all set to make her Bollywood debut this week with the comedy From Sydney With Love, is in a quandary.

The reason: This Bong beauty is continuously being compared to more established heroines namely Kangna Ranaut and Deepika Padukone. In fact, she has been getting a lot of film offers that have gone to Kangna earlier.

“It’s amusing how some filmmakers have been thinking of me as some kind of replacement to Kangna Ranaut,” she happily giggles. “I’ve been offered at least half-a-dozen movies by makers who say I fit the bill for a ‘Kangana-type-of-role’ – whatever that means!”

As if this isn’t enough, some makers tell Bidita, she looks and even sounds like Deepika Padukone; so much so that if she would dub for Deepika, no one might come to know – another comparison that the debutante has to live with, at least for now.

And while the girl takes these links with a pinch of salt, Bidita does assert that she wishes to “carve a completely original identity” for herself, even if she agrees to a Deepika or Kangna-kind-of-role. Lol. Looking at her performance in the promos of From Sydney With Love, we do believe that the actress is versatile.

For the record, her movie’s release will clash with none other than Jism 2; the debut vehicle of international porn sensation Sunny Leone. But Bidita smiles and shrugs it off. “I don’t fear Sunny Leone. Apart from my looks and acting capabilities, I have inner beauty,” she remarks with confidence.

When compared to the mass appeal Sunny’s cleavage carries, Bidita reacts, “A little bit of concealing is any day more erotic than showing everything, isn’t it?”

In Bollywood, Rakhi Sawant and Sambhavna Seth are both firebrands in their own way. But when it comes to the Bengali film industry Tollywood, the spice queens are engaged in a new war or sorts.

Some time ago, Rakhi went to town over performing an item number in an upcoming Bengali film. But as per the latest reports, now spunky Sambhavna has gone ahead and done a catchy Bong song in a Tollywood flick called Gundairaj.

What’s more! The makers of Sam’s movie are planning to beat Rakhi’s number by releasing their film before the other. Moreover, the girls have a history of fighting with each other.

It can be recalled how Rakhi had lambasted Sambhavna during Bigg Boss and even ousted her from the dance show Zara Nachke Dikha; with rumours that she had asked its makers to drop Sam if they wanted Rakhi on the show.

Sambhavna was indeed dropped. Nevertheless, she moved on to participate in its competing show Dancing Queen and even won it.

All this makes us wonder, if the makers of Jhalak Dikhhla Ja missed out on this whole Rakhi-Sambhavna war. After all, the babes could have made perfect competition and brought greater dramatic value to their show this year.

Just hours after walking the ramp as a showstopper for ace designer Nazia Syed, Bollywood newbie Evelyn Sharma was spotted club-hopping with Tamil actor-turned-filmmaker Dhanush K Raja; as the Kolaveri Di boy turned 29 this week.

A birdie tells us that ever since Evelyn visited Chennai for the inauguration of a gymnasium last month, she has become good friends with the “Why This Kolaveri Di” (Why This Murderous Rage, Girl?) boys – music composer Anirudh Ravichander and actor-writer-singer Dhanush.

After the two had flown down to Mumbai for Evelyn’s birthday bash a few days ago; she returned the gesture by heading to Chennai for Dhanush’s birthday bash this week. “Having shot for four movies, my acting and especially my Hindi diction, have improved a lot,” quips the girl, who inspite of her half-foreign origins, dubs for herself.

Evelyn will be seen making her debut with a funky role in the comedy From Sydney With Love releasing in the first week of August. Directed by veteran filmmaker Pramod Chakravorty’s grandson Prateek Chakravorty, the film’s songs and promos have already gained good popularity with the youth.

The girl is also working hard towards her first full-length lead in T-Series’ next tentatively titled Class of 2013. She plays a glamorous dream girl in the movie, which happens to be the directorial debut of Super Cassettes icon Bhushan Kumar’s enterprising wife Divya Khosla Kumar.

When questioned about the clash, Bidita, who has modeled for many successful brands and campaigns, fumes, “What can Sunny show in the film that she hasn’t already shown to the world? On the contrary, I have a lot to show, that too with my jism covered. Subtle sensuality is far more explosive than raw sexuality.”

“Moreover, Sunny is not even the topmost pornstar in the world! So what’s the fuss all about,” Bidita reacts with a wink, adding that we can consider keeping that off the record (that makes it our turn to wink this time).

The Life OK channel wouldn’t have ever expected this in their wildest dreams! In a big surprise coming their way, spiritual leader Paramahamsa Nithyananda, popularly known as Swami Nithyananda, showered praises on the mythological daily soap, Devon Ke Dev… Mahadev, this week.

In his discourse titled Inner Awakening at the lush green hill station of Kodaikanal in Tamil Nadu, he told his devotees that the daily soap, which revolves around the life of Lord Shiva; the most powerful God within the Hindu culture, is one of the best things to have happened to the Vedic tradition in recent times.

“Bringing a mythological story to life is not a joke. If I put all my intelligence, philosophical strength, understanding and abilities, to try and make a serial on Shiva, it will not be better than Devon Ke Dev… Mahadev,” said Swami Nithyananda, recommending it to everyone.

“There are a lot of subtle points it portrays; like what happens when Devi assumes a human body, concepts of incarnation, why tapas (tapasya) is needed, and lots of such aspects, which the programme is presenting beautifully,” he said.

Praising the show’s production values, set designs and costumes, the Swami remarked that the makers, writers and actors are doing an “amazing job,” bringing the story of Shiva alive with beautiful visuals and concepts which can be understood by the common man.

“This correct depiction and representation of facts is a true service to the Vedic tradition,” said the Paramahamsa, who has recently been anointed the 293rd pontiff of the Madurai Adheenam; the oldest Saivite mutt established more than 1,500 years ago in South India.

An upcoming slick-flick Qayamat Hi Qayamat has not one, not two, but FIVE villains doing a rehash of Gabbar Singh — Bollywood’s greatest villain ever. And just like Sholay, giving them company, is the nimble-footed Basanti… oops, we mean, the spunky Sambhavna Seth.

But the girl rues the absence of an Amitabh Bachchan or Dharmendra! “The film is surefire fun, but I’d have been happier with a dialogue like ‘Tera naam kya hai Sambhavna?’ from the action men,” she laughs.

Movie promotions in Bollywood are reaching new levels every year. Another glaring example of this is the latest strategy being adopted by Rathi Group of Cinemas, which owns a chain of single-screen cinema halls across central India.

For the release of Rohit Shetty’s Bol Bachchan this week, featuring Ajay Devgn, Abhishek Bachchan, Asin, Prachi Desai and a special title track featuring Amitabh Bachchan, the group’s director Akshaye Rathi has come up with a unique promotional concept.

The film features Ajay Devgn as a pehalwaan (strongman) from Rajasthan. Bringing in novelty to promotions at the onset of monsoons, Rathi has called in Rajasthani chefs who would be preparing moong dal ke pakode with pudina chutney, mirchi ke bade (a delicacy from Jodhpur) and kullad ki adrak waali chai.

“These will be served to the audience during the run of the film,” informs the group’s publicist Dale Bhagwagar. “Serving these dishes which are enjoyed most during the rains, could make the movie going experience more enjoyable,” he adds.
