Bollywood spreads warmth during Coronavirus

The nation is facing the probability of a longer lockdown than 21 days, or even curfews during the Coronovirus aka COVID-19 outbreak. While people are stuck in their houses, they are increasingly watching movies and surfing the net. Most Indians are looking up to their idolized Bollywood personalities, who are cheering them up once again this week.

Amitabh Bachchan

Quoting Charles Darwin, megastar Amitabh Bachchan wrote the following lines on Twitter: “It’s not the strangest who survive, not the most intelligent, but the one most responsive to change.” Not to forget to mention that Big B is one of the most active desi filmstars on social media and his tweets and posts are revered by fans.

Priyanka Chopra

Priyanka Chopra also took to Twitter to share an interesting sketch of a little boy riding a horse. The caption read: “Everyone is a bit scared, said the horse. But we are less scared together.”

Katrina Kaif

Katrina Kaif, who earlier posted videos of her mopping and cleaning her house and even doing the utensils during the social distancing of Coronavirus times, said, “Hope everyone is staying safe… please follow all precautionary safety measures as recommended by the health professionals… exercise and meditation help your body’s immune system… keep your environment clean and happy.”

“Be safe and take care of one another. Together let’s help to stop the spread of this virus. Stay safe everyone,” added the actress.

Sonu Nigam

Actor-singer Sonu Nigam shared an exclusive message on Coronavirus, wherein he shared his plight about not being able to return to India amid the total lockdown.

Preetisheel Singh

Ace makeup and prosthetic designer Preetisheel Singh asked everyone to show restraint and compassion in these tough times. “The world is going through troubled times right now and it seems like we cannot do anything about it, but remember, it’s the little things that will get us all out of this big difficulty,” she wrote on the Instagram account of her company, Da Makeup Lab.

“It’s the care, the love, the strict adherence to social distancing, and a sense that together we can overcome it. That is what will ultimately bail us out. So keep calm and fight on,” added Preetisheel.

Karan Johar

Leading filmmaker Karan Johar tweeted: “You know what to do! You know how critical it is! You know about self isolating, washing hands, social distancing, you know it all!”

“Then do yourself a favour and just don’t read any more corona updates for a few days! Just happy and elevating news! Do this for yourself,” Karan added.

Alia Bhatt

Sharing a pic of hers with papa Mahesh Bhatt, Alia wrote on her FB page: “Stay home and go through old pictures when you’re missing your daddy. #throwbackthursday #stayhomestaysafe”

Ashok Chaudhary CRUSHES Kangana Ranaut’s nepotism debate with The Music In My Blood

Bollywood has been raging with the debate on nepotism ever since Kangana Ranaut struck uneasy chords about it in her confrontation with Karan Johar. Talking about how the Indian film industry has a bias towards talent born into industry families, she begun a discussion which refuses to die. But amidst all the mud-slinging on the topic, one never imagined it would be portrayed in the form of a story.

But that’s what theatre and film actor Ashok Chaudhary’s character in the American Off-Broadway play The Music In My Blood is all about. The play has the Indian-American playing a character of Vikram; an aspiring singer who does not belong to any affluent musical family, but dreams of becoming a famous singer like the yesteryear greats Mohammed Rafi and Kishore Kumar.

“Vikram goes through the journey of a careless student hailing from a lower strata of society, persevering to learn Hindustani classical music and finally transforming himself into a great musician,” informs Ashok.

“His character redefines the play’s title The Music in My Blood and proves that one does not have to be born in an artistic family to be a great performer. With sheer talent and dedication, the character proves that nepotism can be crushed,” he adds.

Interestingly, the play’s narration is creatively moved forward in the form of a ghost of Walter Kaufmann, a Jewish refugee to India during the Second World War, who gave India the iconic All India Radio signature tune and fell in love with the music of the land.

Ashok is touched by the audience response. “After the play, viewers come up to me in a very emotional state, some even with moist eyes. They identify with the character which seems to rake up their pent up emotions and unfulfilled dreams. Such a soul-stirring response is heart-warming and heartbreaking at the same time,” remarks Ashok.

He will next be seen playing a spy in Eshwar Gunturu’s Bollywood film Code Name Abdul which stars Tanishaa Mukerji in the lead.

Evelyn Sharma – Fashionista with a Bollywood tadka

Image

Best known as ‘Lara’ in Ayan Mukerji’s Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani, alongside Ranbir Kapoor, under Karan Johar’s banner Dharma Productions, Evelyn Sharma played a sexy ditz who wraps a most charming Ranbir around her little finger and stunned the audience with her sensuous performance of hit song Ooh La La. The film is blockbuster, having broken records at the box-office last year and Evelyn is on cloud nine, marking YJHD as her second hit movie after Rohan Sippy’s Nautanki Saala opposite Ayushman Khurrana only a few weeks earlier!

Image

Currently the 23-year-old half-German half-Indian supermodel-turned-actress is busy promoting her next film, T-Series’  Yaariyan, where she will be romancing Humse Hai Life teen heart-throb Himansh Kohli. She plays an angelic dream girl and will be seen donning a bikini for the first time in the sexy beach song Sunny Sunny with superstar Yo Yo Honey Singh for this fresh college movie, which happens to be the directorial debut of Super Cassettes icon Bhushan Kumar’s enterprising wife Divya Khosla Kumar.

Image

The two hit movies old actress will celebrate Yaariyan as her fifth release in one year on January 10, 2014 and has already been signed for more projects such as David Dhawan’s multi-starrer Main Tera Hero with Varun Dhawan, Anupam Kher, Illeana D’Cruz and more; as well as Neeraj Pathak’s Bhaiyyaji Superhit with Sunny Deol and opposite Arshad Warsi.

Image

Taking a strong stand in the Bollywood industry and shooting straight into the Times of India’s Most Desirable List, Evelyn has fast emerged a sought-after fashion icon for events, brands and designers. The names go from designers Nishka Lulla, Rocky S, Falguni & Shane Peacock and Wendell Rodricks to rock bands like Euphoria and jewelry brands like Gehna who have longed for the beauty to be their muse. Screen scorcher Evelyn Sharma basks In Frost

So you thought one can only bask in the glory of the sun, eh? Think again!

 Image

This weekend, actress and fashionista Evelyn Sharma is burning the web screens in a short fashion film called In Frost premiered on the Fashion TV website.

The three-minute slick-flick featuring vignettes of the screen scorcher is produced by Vatsal Mehta and directed and edited by Maul Gohel, who was chosen among 25 international fashion and advertising photographers to win top honours at the Cannes Film Festival this year.

 Image

It has Evelyn basking in morning light, wearing modish outfits from ace designer Nishka Lulla. The pretty gal moves like a dream while the sun rays and its hues penetrate her – striding with grace and confidence – as if burning with ambition under warmth of the rising sun.

The stillness of a foggy sky in the backdrop seems to take her into dreamy rewind mode with a beautiful sepia tone at times, giving a retro feel to the scenes, yet maintaining a contemporary pace for the film.

 Image

She is styled by Hasnain Patel with make-up by Shubhash Singh. A mesmerizing score by Robin Thicke ft. Pharrell titled Blurred Lines plays in the background.

Though the film is called In Frost – more than frosty, we find it piping hot. Watch it and judge for yourself.

Evelyn Sharma to match dance steps with Arshad Warsi

Evelyn Sharma seems to have all the luck by her side. From starting out as a fashionista and graduating to Bollywood success with super hits like Nautanki Saala! and the Ranbir Kapoor-starrer Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani (YJHD), she’s now turning a new leaf.

 Image

Evelyn has been signed by director Neeraj Pathak for Bhaiyyaji Superhit starring Sunny Deol, Preity Zinta and Arshad Warsi.

 Image

Pitted as the leading lady opposite Arshad, she plays a cute, sexy but traditional Indian girl. But what the actress is most excited about is matching dance steps with him!

Apart from being a powerhouse performer, Arshad is well-known for being a great dancer. And Evelyn feels this gives her a great chance to hone her dancing skills too. Nowadays, the gal is often spotted at a dance rehearsal hall in Andheri, Mumbai. We wonder if that has something to do with the challenge of dancing with Arshad.

 Image

Meanwhile, having bagged a role with various shades, comedy, songs, dance and all, Evelyn is glad to work with director Neeraj Pathak. “He spotted me in YJHD and invited me to his office for a meeting. He compliments me for my talent and thinks I am a quick learner. I feel honoured with the praise.”

 Image

And what does her hero Arshad think of her? “When I first shot with him in Jaipur, it was a scene where I was performing a puja in the house. And Arshad was quite amused by my Hindi accent,” she winks.

Evelyn Sharma’s bikini dance moves with Yo Yo Honey Singh!

Aishwarya Rai did it in Dhoom. Priyanka Chopra did it in Andaaz, Don, Dostana and for Pitbull. Katrina Kaif did it in Boom and in Spain with Ranbir Kapoor (wink). Deepika Padukone did it in Cocktail.

 Image

This holiday season, actress Evelyn Sharma has got a pretty good reason to join the Bollywood bikini brigade with a sizzling beach song. The gal will hit the silver screens in a scorching hot two-piece bikini for the first time ever with superstar Yo Yo Honey Singh’s song Paani Paani for her next movie Yaariyan; the directorial debut of T-Series’ head honcho Bhushan Kumar’s wife Divya Khosla Kumar.

Laughing off the recent rumours that plastic surgery must have gotten Evelyn her perfect figure, the young actress says: “I love to dance! In movies, on stage and to stay fit! Dance is a great workout too! It keeps your body toned and stamina high!”

 Image

To the question if she felt uncomfortable in a two-piece, she winks: “What’s better to wear on the beach than a swimming costume! The song is full of fun, sun and yaariyan! I really enjoyed the shoot with Divya ji! She knew exactly how to make us feel comfortable and get our energy going with every take!”

Evelyn surprised the audience with her sweet Seeta role and cabaret like song Dil Ki Toh Lag Gayi earlier this year in the hit movie Nautanki Saala opposite Ayushman Khurrana; and went on to showcase her dancing skills to Ooh La La, playing a vivacious character alongside Ranbir Kapoor in Ayan Mukherji’s Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani; one of the biggest blockbusters of the year. Attagirl!

Stranded Evelyn Sharma boards an overnight train!

Some Bollywood stars are known to go out of the way to accommodate their producers, sometimes braving risks and weather. We often hear such episodes of professionalism about Salman Khan, Aamir Khan, Akshay Kumar, Priyanka Chopra, Kareena Kapoor and Deepika Padukone. Joining the list now is the Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani actress Evelyn Sharma.

Recently, on her way to shoot for Divya Khosla Kumar’s Yaariyan in Darjeeling and Sikkim, Evelyn’s flight was rerouted from Bagdogra to Guwahati airport because of a bad storm, leaving her stranded alone with her luggage.

Shooting was scheduled for the next day and since she knew it’s a big hassle for any producer to reschedule location shoots, the actress decided to bravely take an overnight train from Guwahati to Siliguri to reach her sets on time.

 Image

“Luckily, God sent an angel in the form of one of the nicest persons I have ever met; to guide and guard me the whole journey – from going to the railway station, arranging for a ticket on a completely booked train, guarding me for 10 hours on the journey, inviting me for lunch in Siliguri and safely dropping me to the car which brought me to the shoot in Sikkim,” a grateful Evelyn reveals, though concealing the name and gender of this ‘mystery person’.

 Image

“Without the timely help, I would have been lost in Guwahati, as my phone was dead and the flight personnel did not help at all,” she adds.

Needless to say, her entire film crew was highly impressed with Evelyn’s bravery of taking the train alone in the night, just to make sure she reached on time.

Yaariyan is the directorial debut of T-Series’ head honcho Bhushan Kumar’s wife Divya Khosla Kumar and releases on January 31 next year.

Evelyn Sharma is the Indian adman’s new hot favourite!

 Image

Evelyn Sharma is fast emerging the hottest Bollywood import since Katrina Kaif.

The gal has not only been strengthening her position in Bollywood with key roles in hits like Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani with Ranbir Kapoor and Nautanki Saala with Ayushmann Khurrana, but her popularity is growing from strength to strength in the fashion and ad world too.

 Image

The half-German half-Indian Evelyn is now one of the favourites for some of the country’s best-known designers including Rocky S, Wendell Rodricks, Falguni & Shane Peacock, Sonaakshi Raaj and Nikhil Thampi, as their muse and showstopper at recent fashion events.

Moreover, the four-flicks-young actress and fashionista has been gracing magazine covers, bagging endorsements and signing new movies almost like collecting birthday gifts.

Evelyn has been the face of campaigns for various brands including Blenders Pride, Parachute, Anandam World City and Biba; many of whom have extended their endorsement deals with the rising star.

To add to all this, the hottie is constantly growing in her Google ranking with surfers seeking out her hot photo galleries and wallpapers on the world wide web. And she will soon be seen in Divya Kumar’s Yaariyaan and David Dhawan’s Main Tera Hero. Way to go!

JHAGDE – ishQ Bector & Rakhi Sawant [THE OFFICIAL VIDEO]

ishQ attracts Rakhi Sawant’s ire!

India’s mad-max music import from Canada, ishQ Bector, has a dangerous secret. Since the singer-composer loved Sherlyn Chopra’s boy-cut look in Bigg Boss last month, he decided to experiment the ‘same’ on her arch rival Rakhi Sawant, for the video of his new music album ‘Jhagde’. And a naïve Rakhi has innocently fallen for his game.

Now it wasn’t long ago that Rakhi and Sherlyn fought like wild cats, after the latter quipped, “How can people compare a Mercedes Benz with a Nano”. Rakhi didn’t take the Nano tag too kindly, and went on national television claiming that Sherlyn was “using” her name for “cheap publicity”.

When Rakhi did the ishQ Bector video of ‘Jhagde’, she least realised, the music man’s mischief would cost her a ‘copycat tag’.

ishQ tries to justify, “Though Sherlyn’s look was the seed, it’s blossomed into a lovely flower, with Rakhi surpassing expectations. The brand new Rakhi is looking hotter than ever before and Sherlyn’s no match for her.”

With Pen Audio releasing the album’s first video next week, ishQ’s dirty secret is going to be out of the bag. Tch tch!! When Rakhi comes to know of it, we can expect fireworks from the firebrands… or should we say, jordaar jhagde!

ishQ Bector to launch Rakhi Sawant’s hi-glam avatar

ishQ Bector, India’s mad-max music import from Canada, will now launch our very own Rakhi Sawant in an all-new hi-glam avatar, next week.

The title track of ishQs latest album ‘Jhagde’ to be released on Pen Audio, will witness the metamorphosis of Rakhi Sawant. “The spunky brand, known for her bold and brazen personality attracting mass appeal, will now be seen in a completely classy, upmarket trendy look and style,” informs ishQ.

Her new look comprises of boy-cut hair (ah, is Sherlyn Chopra listening!), jazzy tops right out from a Karan Johar movie and the hottest hot-pants to compliment them.

“We’re taking her cattiness to the next level,” quips ishQ. The composer, who also sings and performs for his videos (most of them having crazy shocking antics and scandalous lyrics), is best known for his hit video track “Aye Hip Hopper”, “Karle Gunaah” from the movie ‘Ugly Aur Pagli’, “You Got Me Rockin and Reeling” from ‘Billu Barber’, the title track of ‘Maan Gaye Mughall-e-Azam’ and rap-vocals for ‘Race’.

In this new video of “Jhagde”, the Sawant babe will be seen coming to blows with ishQ in a freestyle boxing match. Gosh! Who wins it and how is still a mystery. But Rakhi, full of excitement about her new chic look, laughs and hits hard, “If ishQ thinks he will get away with the ‘jhagde’, he’s sorely mistaken. Even with a hip look, I can beat the Hip Hopper black and blue in any boxing match.”

Round One begins next week.
