That’s not Kabir Singh, it’s Samarpan Singh!

One look at this picture and you might wonder how similar the look is to the character of Dr Kabir in the superhit Shahid Kapoor-starrer Kabir Singh.

But hold it, it’s not who you think! This young lad is actually debutant actor Samarpan Singh and he insists he is “very very different” from the self-obsessed man-child character of Dr Kabir who makes his painful way into a sort of adulthood in the movie.

“I am nothing like that,” laughs Samarpan, who recently made his debut in the web series LuvDown. The series was watched with appreciation and anxiety by viewers during its initial run on Disney+ Hotstar and has got a fresh lease on YouTube. Laced with sarcastic humour, LuvDown is a rom-com revolving around the story of a couple stuck together in a flat during the pandemic.

“Don’t judge me by the looks,” quips Samarpan. “I’m much more chilled out than the ultra-hyper Kabir. I don’t believe in putting a stamp of ownership on people, and my friends say that I am one of the most understanding and accommodative friends they have had in their lives,” says Samarpan.

But if there can be one thing similar to Dr Kabir Singh’s character (apart from his current look), what would that be, we ask Samarpan. “I think that would be his passion,” quips Samarpan who is actually also a doctor in real life.

Don’t be surprised if you soon see this intelligent and handsome intense-looking new talent in Bollywood.

This Twitter post on Avengers: Infinity War cracked us up!

Much has been written about Avengers: Infinity War from the last few weeks. From the trailers we all knew that the new super-villain Thanos wanted to destroy half the universe. We knew that he’d swat away superheroes like flies on his dessert.

So hardly anything can come as a surprise now, we thought. Until Bollywood PR guru Dale Bhagwagar posted this on his Twitter. “Since Thanos is supposed to have finished off half the universe… now, as usual, it’s time to spend a few days marking ourselves ‘safe’ on Facebook,” he wrote.

Dale’s crazy thought combined with a dollop of sarcasm about the amount of time we spend on Facebook, not only cracked us up, but got us thinking too.

The public relations specialist often gives us some of the news first on his social media. Like even before the official release of the new Avengers movie, the Bollywood publicist’s FB post read: “RIP Loki, Spider-Man, Black Panther, Groot, Doctor Strange. But don’t think we are so stupid that we do not know that you all will come back. Ganda hai par dhanda hai ye. (It’s dirty business, but its business)”

We were sad hearing our favourite superheroes are gonna die, but Dale’s post sure confirmed our suspicions (and hope) that they would soon return. How? Dale hasn’t posted that! Not yet! Lol.

Avengers: Infinity War supervillain Thanos is emotional and emotive, says Bollywood PR Dale Bhagwagar

Mini Review: Avengers: Infinity War

Avengers: Infinity War may set box-office records worldwide, but overall, its no great shakes. One-time watch. Very thin storyline and the characters are so many, none of them get a chance to shine.

Too many scenes, too many situations; all packed in a long movie. In fact, a few of the guys came across as ill-developed characterisations and weak superheroes.

The only character one could relate to was Thanos… because the makers have concentrated on the emotional and emotive side of this new so-called supervillain.

And yes…. by the end of the movie, one begins wondering whether what Thanos is doing is actually right… easing the chaos in the universe. I am trying to imagine Mumbai having half of the population it has….. Gosh…. Traffic problems khatam.

Now waiting for Part 2 😉

The race for marking yourself safe on Facebook ;-)

Rakshak Sahni - Pic 2

Got some quick and controlled news write-ups done for my new PR client Rakshak Sahni this week. Rakshak was seen in Ekta Kapoor’s Kkavyanjali on Star Plus earlier, and is now going to debut in a Hollywood film called Eastern Crimes. The makers are in talks with Peter Weir (director of The Truman Show and Dead Poets Society to direct the movie.)

The Post beats Paid News and Fake News

In an era of Paid News and Fake News, comes a movie about journalistic ethics. ‘The Post’ has it all and more.

The Post

REVEALED: The magical hands behind Nawazuddin Siddiqui’s transformation in Mom!

Preetisheel Singh with Nawazuddin Siddiqui on the sets of Mom.

When Nawazuddin Siddiqui’s bald look for the movie Mom was revealed, the media and fans went ga-ga over it. So stunning and convincing was his artistic makeover, he was almost unrecognizable in pics of his special appearance character from the Sridevi Kapoor-Akshaye Khanna starrer. But not many are aware of the secret magical hands behind this overwhelming transformation.

So here we go. Nawazuddin’s make-up, hair and prosthetics (sculpting, molding and casting techniques to create advanced cosmetic effects) have been done by none other than National Award winner Preetisheel Singh.

Though the lady has preferred to stay relatively low-profile in the media, Bollywood knows she is no ordinary artisan. Preetisheel excels in everything in the field of make-up — from beauty, character design, tattoos, body painting to high fashion. Quietly, she has also been a pioneer in setting up a prosthetics make-up effects lab in India.

After bagging the ‘National Film Award for Best Make-Up’ for Sartaj Singh Pannu’s pre-Mughal historical Punjabi epic Nanak Shah Fakir, this whiz of makeovers has worked on various artistes in films such as Bajirao Mastani, Haider, Brothers, Rangoon, Parched, Talwar, Ghayal Once Again, Hawaizaada, Finding Fanny, Housefull 3, Shivaay and the Tamil film 24.

Her range of work doesn’t end here! Coming up are varied characters in Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s Padmavati, Sunny Deol’s Pal Pal Dil Ke Paas, Vikramaditya Motwane’s Bhavesh Joshi and Umesh Shukla’s 102 Not Out. That’s a lot of professional styling with her busy brush strokes.
