Bollywood and Punjabi films heartthrob Diljit Dosanjh shocked Hollywood actor Alex Reece when he gave him a shout-out from the stage of his music concert in London.

After working in quite a few British and Hollywood movies, this year Alex made his debut in Indian cinema. He played the negative lead opposite Diljit in the Punjabi film Sajjan Singh Rangroot directed by Pankaj Batra, and is now looking at playing more villainous roles in Bollywood next.

Diljit’s production team had arranged VIP passes for Alex and some other cast and crew members of the movie to attend his live concert at Wembley arena in London. Alex was already feeling overwhelmed witnessing the humongous fan-craze for Diljit at the musical event, when all of a sudden Diljit mentioned him amidst a packed crowd of 12,000 fans.

Recognizing him has Diljit’s co-star, some of his ultra-lively Punjabi fans in the crowd instinctively lifted Alex on their shoulders and started dancing. “I was so surprised and overjoyed, I almost froze,” laughs the Hollywood actor.

“It took me a while to get hold of my thoughts. I have never witnessed such fervor and frenzy in my life,” exclaims Alex, who is well-known for his appearance in a mega-budget James Bond commercial starring Daniel Craig.

“Even during the making of the film, Diljit always made it a point to praise me and appreciate my work. But with this live shout-out from stage, he took it to just another level. This was one of the most exhilarating moments of my life and I will never forget his gesture,” says Alex.

British actor Alex Reece who has acted in Hollywood flicks is also known for his appearance in a mega-budget James Bond commercial starring Daniel Craig. But when the actor decided to do Indian movies, he wasn’t sure he would be welcomed in the industry.

His skepticism has been proved wrong by popular Bollywood and Punjabi cinema star Diljit Dosanjh, with whom Alex made his debut playing the villain in the recently released Punjabi film Sajjan Singh Rangroot directed by Pankaj Batra.

Impressed with Alex’s work as the negative lead, Diljit who plays the title role of Sajjan Singh (with rangroot meaning, new recruit), called Alex a very good actor on Instagram and went on to tweet, “Alex, you are our fav.”

“I was really touched by his gesture,” says Alex. “Diljit is such a fine actor, an out and out charmer. A popular star like him praising me publicly, has made me feel very comfortable starting out in the Indian industry,” says Alex.

Apart from the stellar performances by its starcast, the period film has been praised for its authenticity in accurately depicting the anguish and turmoil of soldiers of a Sikh regiment fighting for the British Army during World War I. Fans of Diljit are expecting the film to be dubbed and released in Hindi soon.

Alex is now taking Hindi lessens and wants to exploit the void of the “bura gora” (the white-skinned baddie) in Bollywood next. “I’m told that after Bob Christo and Tom Alter, there is a void of actors playing the white baddie in Bollywood. Maybe, I can explore to fill it,” he wonders.

True! Who can forget that high-voltage Bob Christo scene in Mr India where Anil Kapoor coaxes him to praise Lord Hanuman by making him repeat “Jai Bajrang Bali.” Bollywood sure hasn’t seen any gora make that kind of a mark from a long time now. So this new guy is surely worth a try. Welcome Alex Reece. Welcome to Indian cinema.

Soon after Tripura’s new Chief Minister Biplab Deb launched a scathing attack on Miss World 1997 Diana Hayden, her ex-publicist Dale Bhagwagar has come to her defense. Dale counters Deb on Diana saying, “I am not in touch with Diana from a few years, but I bet she is way too much smarter than how the Tripura CM wants to portray her.”

A few days ago, Biplab Deb had claimed there were internet and satellite communication systems in Mahabharata era, with his comment causing much debate on Twitter as well as national media.

This week, the CM launched an intense attack on the fashion designing and cosmetic industry and taunted women who have won international beauty pageants. “In all of Tripura, I see so many beauty parlours. It’s an industry, it’s a business,” he remarked.

Speaking at a public event, Deb singled out Diana saying, “Even Diana Hayden got it (the world title). See, everyone is laughing. Tell me, was Diana Hayden supposed to get it?”

Aishwarya Rai got it. That’s justified, because she carries the essence of the beauty of Indian women. Indian beauty is all about Goddess Laxmi, Goddess Saraswati. Diana Hayden does not fit to that class of beauty,” Deb stated.

Bollywood PR Dale Bhagwagar who has worked with Diana for a long time promptly reacted saying, “I don’t know why Mr Deb is suddenly targeting Diana, but what he is stating, lacks merit. Diana is a complete new-age woman — smart, caring, intelligent, intellectual, well-read, attractive and beautiful. She has a magnetic charm and warmth in her personality.”

“After being crowned Miss World, she has actually gone and done real charity work for years together, something many pageant winners only speak about during their crown-seeking days,” he added.

It can be noted here that Dale has handled the PR for maximum number of title holders, including names such as Diana Hayden (Miss World 1997), Nikita Anand(Miss India Universe 2003), Pooja Batra (Miss India International 1993), Priya Gill(Miss India International 1995) and Priyanka Chopra (Miss World 2000).

Evelyn Sharma goes through dust and grind to build homes on Women’s Day

While most celebs headed to felicitation events, seminars or posted their views on Twitter on International Woman’s Day, there was one who went through dust and grind. Actress and fashion philanthropist Evelyn Sharma joined some prominent women leaders from different fields in an initiative to build homes for underprivileged women.

The Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani actress who was last seen speaking at Donald Trump’s National Prayer Breakfast in Washington, drove down to the little city of Karjat adjoining the Sahyadri Western Ghats near the banks of the River Ulhas in Maharashtra, to participate in a house building activity arranged under the campaign ‘WOMEN BUILD India’ by the Habitat for Humanity organization. Evelyn is the youth ambassador for their ‘Young Leaders BUILD’ movement.

In Karjat, Evelyn volunteered to build a home for Changuna Sarai who lives in Sarai Wadi with her family. Changuna and her husband Suresh Sarai are agricultural labourers. With their meager daily wages, they try to make ends meet. To add to their difficulties is a lack of proper sanitation facilities for her three daughters who are growing up.

Overjoyed with the development, Changuna said, “My husband, my daughters and myself; we live with our extended family. We are ten members in all and have been living in an extremely small house. Our condition has affected the education of my daughters. The new house is a dream come true for our family. Now we won’t have to worry about a roof over our daughters heads.”

‘WOMEN BUILD India’ is a part of Habitat for Humanity’s strategy that aims to achieve holistic community development with shelter and sanitation at its core. Its objective is to make ‘Housing for All’ and ‘Swachh Bharat Abhiyan’ a reality by 2020.

“It is encouraging to see how the Government of India is addressing these needs through various campaigns. As women leaders from different fields, we must play a part. This was one of the best days of my life,” quipped Evelyn who is also the founder and managing director of Seams For Dreams Charity Foundation. Attagirl!

Amitabh Bachchan is NOT dead!

Amitabh Bachchan is NOT dead!

‘Killing’ ageing superstars before their time comes, seems to be one of the in-things the internet and social media have come to specialize in! After fake rumours about Lata Mangeshkar and Rajesh Khanna’s demise this year, now the internet has gone ahead and ‘killed’ megastar Amitabh Bachchan this week.

ABOVE: A screen grab of the FAKE news report on 24musicvdo.blogspot.in

A Blogspot blog called 24musicvdo.blogspot.in reported Big B’s demise in a “car accident” on its home page a few hours ago; causing panic among Twitterati and Blackberry Messenger (BBM) users who broadcast and discussed it, till they realized it was a false alarm.

According to the said blog, “(Local Team News 9) Amitabh Bachan died in a single vehicle crash on Route 80 between Morristown and Roswell. He was pronounced dead at the scene by paramedics responding to the vehicle accident and was identified by photo ID found on his body. Alcohol and drugs do not appear to have been a factor in this accident – June 26, 2012.” (sic)

Also carrying photograph of a car turned over, the article added that “The Highway Safety Investigators have told reporters that Amitabh Bachan lost control while driving a friend’s vehicle on Interstate 80 and rolled the vehicle several times killing him instantly.” (sic)

“Memorial services for Amitabh Bachan have not yet been announced. The service is expected to be a closed casket funeral due to the severe head trauma,” (sic) it concluded after a further description of the so-called ‘accident’.

Commenting on such misleading reports, Bollywood PR specialist Dale Bhagwagar smirked, “The bol bachchan (talking big) attitude of the internet and social media often borders on irony when it keeps ‘killing’ superstars.”

“Social media is a very influential and powerful platform, and everyone should be wary of what they broadcast without verifying. When the rumour broke out, Mr Bachchan was happily tweeting almost every 15 minutes. It just takes a little bit of patience and research to check facts, but sadly, not many do that before they jump to conclusions and discussions on the net,” he analyzed.

Colors faces ‘pornographic’ heat for Sunny Leone on Bigg Boss!

India’s biggest reality show Bigg Boss is in controversy once again! The Broadcasting Content Complaints Council (BCCC), an independent body set up by the Indian Broadcasters Foundation (IBF) to promote self-regulation by Indian television media, has stated that the Indo-Canadian pornstar Sunny Leone has promoted her pornography business through Bigg Boss.

With just two weeks remaining for the grand finale of the show; taking up 19 complaints pertaining to Sunny Leone, BCCC is reported to have put Colors, one of IBF members, on notice for allowing cross-promotion of sexually explicit content by Sunny Leone, who, in turn, is making money out of her presence on Bigg Boss.

It has been reported in The Tribune that in a meeting yesterday, BCCC directed Colors to stop all cross-promotion of Leone’s pornographic sites and videos by December 26.

Wajahat Habibullah, chairperson of the National Commission for Minorities and a member of BCCC, said, “We all agreed that Sunny Leone has been using Bigg Boss on Colors to promote pornography which is classified as criminal activity in India. It may not be criminal in the United States where she comes from, but here, it happens to be so. Therefore, she can’t be allowed to use our television to promote her business. Colors has agreed to comply and report back on steps taken.”

Sunny’s interactions with Bigg Boss hosts Salman Khan and Sanjay Dutt and Housemates including Juhi Parmar, Siddharth Sid Bhardwaj, Akashdeep Sky Saigal, Amar Upadhyay and guest Andrew Symonds have been widely speculated and discussed on the show.

“Sunny has been constantly playing mischief with Amar Upadhyay on Bigg Boss, falsely alleging that the family man has been ‘touchy-feely’ with her,” remarked Dale Bhagwagar, publicist for the television star, most famous for his role as the righteous Mihir Virani in the epic daily soap Kyonki Saas Bhi Kabhi Bahu Thi.

A public relations specialist with Bigg Boss; Dale has earlier handled the media for the maximum number of celebrities on reality shows including Shilpa Shetty (during Big Brother), Rakhi Sawant, Kashmera Shah, Ashmit Patel, Sherlyn Chopra, Diana Hayden (Bigg Boss). He pointed out that “Brand Sunny Leone has enhanced itself multiple times since her appearance on Bigg Boss.”

Dale added that “her stint inside the Bigg Boss house has helped Sunny top Google charts with millions looking her up on the internet from India and abroad.”

“According to data collected from Google Trends, Sunny Leone’s search results are reported to be five times more than current teen sensation Katrina Kaif, twice as many as Aishwarya Rai Bachchan and nine times more than the vivacious Kareena Kapoor. That says a lot for Sunny’s rising brand and popularity,” said the Bollywood PR.

Meanwhile, BCCC is reported to have said that anyone is free to appear on any show, but no one has the right to promote their business through it, especially so when the business happens to be illegal.

It was noted that Sunny Leone’s video postings, procured from Bigg Boss 5, are being cross-promoted on a blog authored by the pornstar. The report further states that Sunny’s Twitter account, having 86,000 followers, mentions that mobile applications of her hard porn products are available via email.

More about Sunny Leone on Bigg Boss:

Born Karen Malhotra, Sunny, who entered Bigg Boss as a Wild Card Entry on November 21, became an instant sensation, creating ripples across the country, and garnering attention and protests from people shocked with a pornstar’s presence on Indian national television.

A few days later, acclaimed Indian filmmaker Mahesh Bhatt went into the Bigg Boss House and offered her a lead role in his next film Jism 2, creating great hype all over again. Her seducing pole dance on the show too, attracted great eyeballs and was expected to have boosted the TRP’s.

Not revealing her true identity to the Housemates for long, Sunny, whose Hindi accent is also famous on the show, finally relented when firebrand Pooja Misrra (who had re-entered the House as a guest entry after being in the outside world and knowing about her pornstar status) coaxed her to come out with the truth.
